  • Premium user who cannot use features

I’m paying $150 a year and cannot even comment on content. The other week there was a story about a hyperbaric chamber explosion and users were trying to understand how that could happen. As a nurse, I explained how they work and what could lead to an explosion like that. I hit the button to post it, but my comment never showed up. Rewrote a response again, same result. Today, I went to post two separate comments that are nowhere to be found. I’m not re-subscribing to an app that allows people to openly comment on how they want the POTUS to be killed but when a paid user is trying to offer support/insight, their comments are not posted. My husband has his own company doing executive protection and teaches security and situational awareness all over the country to the government and private sector. This could be an app worth promoting to professionals everywhere but instead we will caution against it.

Can’t get it to do anything. Keeps saying “something went wrong, try again.” Can’t even enter name or email address or sign up for paid service. Update: Working after deleting and reinstalling app. Changed rating from 1 to 4 pending more experience with it (couldn’t figure out how to remove review).
  • Useless now

In an effort to get people to upgrade for paid subscriptions now, you can barely see the anything there. Too busy, too many icons showing new and weeks old incidents and when you click on them, they flash up too fast for you to see location or information. That along with some terrible video and asinine chat, it’s become a waste of time. Pity.
  • Free Version is Infuriating, Intentionally

They could easily make a UX that made the free map and incident updates a good experience. But they don’t. Instead, they fill up the UI with all the pro features that are paywalled in an attempt to constantly divert your attention to the premium features. So, now, as a matter of principle, you would feel like you’re rewarding bad behavior by buying the app. It’s shameful. And then I chose to keep notifications off but the display still has a notification tally that is ever-increasing because the very first notification, which you can’t dismiss, is to turn on your notifications. So you’re essentially blocked from seeing all the notifications they feel area important for you to see. That’s another underhanded tactic, IMO, to bully the very people they’re trying to earn money from.

This app was really helpful. Until you gotta pay for LITERALLY anything. There’s no point having this app since you gotta use everything single feature. It was a good app, but now it’s pretty useless.
  • Have to pay to get any actual information

Half the time the incidences don’t actually show up even days later, and if it is there all the information you can see is where and if it’s a fire, crash, etc. I heard so many positive reviews of this app but it’s literally just pay to “win.” Completely useless each time I try to find information.
  • All vs location specific alerts

You can no longer select area specific notifications; you need to upgrade to the paid version for that, otherwise you’re receiving all citizen alerts. I very much dislike unnecessary notifications and didn’t want all notifications. Decided to delete the app instead. I can get local info from Nextdoor or Neighbors app.
  • Pay to Play

Started as an amazing application to help keep people safe but like most big hits, quickly became a monetized version that strayed far from its original path.
  • Used to be useful

I had it to stay ahead of recalls, natural disasters and for safety issues. But It’s too politically driven ever since Trump got elected. Will look for a better alternative.
  • Greed took over

Used to be a good app until a membership was required to use every single feature. Im nosey but not that nosey. I guess this app will benefit from nosey Karens.
