  • Avoid this app

This has one of the worst user experiences I’ve ever had in setting up an app. I detest that you require us to submit personal information BEFORE telling us that this app requires a $20/month subscription, then requiring us to complete the subscription process before progressing anywhere else, ultimately asking to give you more information. Archaic business tactics to bring in customers and trap them, followed by an exorbitant price. Now they have something they don’t need. Avoid this app.

  • DO NOT BUY THE SUB

I paid for the 1st tier sub (w/o the 911 feat) to see if the accuracy would improve. 1.) **GOT CHARGED $49.59 AFTER I PICKED THE $4.99/mo OPTION.** My sub section of apple settings app says “$4.99 per month” and that I will be charged $4.99 next month???!!! 2.) fyi accuracy didnt improve. im in chicago. couple days ago, heard gun shots going on for 20 mins. yellow dots in the area they were coming from. 10 mins later those dots disappeared. not even grey dots. today, i bought the 1st tier sub to check out other cities like Detroit, Memphis.. areas are blank but LA and NY are lit up 3.) Prior to buying this sub, I was able to view Neighborhood Crime Report somehow. Idk how I got to that feat but feee data was helpful. Some data was locked for sub. I have no idea how to get back to the report, now that I have the sub. 4.) I have 14 verified broadcasts in the past 6 month. its reasonable to offer some kind of trade-off for X amount of verified broadcasts. It’s not like I uploaded junk…. 5.) there needs to be some sort of attempt of a filter in the comment sections. i cant believe some of the hateful, vile comments. ENCOURAGE YOUR USERS TO PARTICIPATE IN BROADCASTING, ALERT US WHEN WE NEED TO UPDATE THE APP, IMPROVE THE NAVIGATION OF THE APP….

I absolutely love all the pay to use notifications I keep getting not in my area Remember when they updated the app to remove the unnecessary notifications? You rely heavily on users for the free portion and gatekeep police signals local only to push things outside of your area Never install or make an account
  • You have to pay for everything now

This app used to be great once upon a time, now you literally have to pay for everything for the app to even be functional. There were huge events, accidents, and fires in my area, and I was not notified, although it was just a block away. But without fail I’m notified for a foul odor, but of course I can’t see further details because I have to pay for it. It seems like you don’t see the big things anymore, just a whole bunch of false reports. And even then, you have to pay to see those, most of them actually. You have to pay to post, you have to pay to change the settings, you have to pay to adjust what you want to be notified for, you have to pay to set your location and radius so that you’re not getting reports for an entire different borough or state, long story short you have to pay for everything. Sad to say but it’s time for me to delete the app, useless and greedy developers now.
  • You have to Pay to get the full story

I had this app during its early development, it was an amazing app it gave you lots of detailed information, it even letted you listen into police radio conversations. However it became a subscription based app for almost every feature, past stories, radio signals, emergency services (yes I know dialing 911 is free). Truly disappointing.
  • If you have any self respect, don’t download this app

The UI and feature set promised by this app had great potential, but unfortunately, we will never know what it truly holds because it greatly falls short due to incessant ads and aggressive subscription pop-ups. These ads not only appear frequently, but also use manipulative dark patterns, coercing users into subscriptions by brute force. I believe in supporting apps through payment, but the way it's presented lacks respect for users. As I soldiered through the initial wave of pop-ups, I discovered that essential features, and information that is very public and easily accessed freely, were locked behind paywalls, which was disappointing. I hope the developers' efforts aren’t overshadowed by the monetization team's tactics, which fail to showcase the app’s value in a more respectful and appealing manner.

The “updates” claim to be removing bugs, but it actually seems to be adding them.

I understand when it comes to business & these apps specifically the subscriptions we have to pay for certain things & on the business side you guys charge us based off reliable, higher revenue , higher engagement etc Also I appreciate that this app that it can keep you aware , informed about the things that’s happening around you but will say 1 downfall to this app is when it comes to the safety of course for everybody , most importantly women , children , the elderly ofc me having children of my own That we should be able to be aware , see , read information upon predators , offenders, etc So we can be more on the safety side I don’t like how an notification will pop up about them being present in your area but you not being aware of who that person specifically is THAT’S scary! & they be in our neighborhoods were we live , work , where our children go to school at & play we should feel & know that we our safe & doesn’t make it better that those type of people our freely roaming the streets , neighborhoods , please make the citizens app fully free for everybody!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Please

Nobody in my city uses it so there never anything around so if it’s useful if you live in a major city and PAY! monthly. You can’t even view the videos without paying very constricted. I’d recommend news break instead for local news
